The year will end with students learning about what events have influenced Canada becoming the country it is today. Throughout the entire year the class will be discussing current events.
Unit Two: The Atlantic Region
Unit Two is all about the Atlantic Region of Canada.
The Atlantic Region is on the East coast of Canada. It includes Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, and the Gaspé region of Québec. The land is characterized by low mountains and plains. The climate is cool and wet, with a hurricane tendency in the summer and early fall. The area was once covered with lakes, which left behind good soil for farming. Farms in this area produce potatoes, milk, apples, and maple sugar. This region is where explorers first discovered Canada long ago. Since then, the natural resources and ocean lifestyle has drawn many people to live in the Atlantic region. |
